Athletic Therapy & Kinesiology

Using a combination of manual therapy, mindfulness techniques, and corrective exercises, Stephanie will help you learn how to work with your body to move with freedom. She takes an active approach using a sports medicine model of care to assess, treat and rehabilitate and prevent injuries.

Stephanie Yip is a certified athletic therapist with a MSc in Performing Arts Medicine from University College London and a BSc in Kinesiology from York University. She is a hypermobility and sports injury specialist and is passionate about empowering athletes to maintain longstanding, healthy careers.

Stephanie previously worked as a resident athletic therapist for The National Centre for Circus Arts, the London Youth Circus, Ryerson University, York University and Humber College. While in London, she went on to work for The English National Ballet School and NoFit State Circus. She also provided services for a variety of professional performers such as Les 7 Doigts de la Main, The Lion King, Pippin, Royal Caribbean, and Circa.

Through her lived experiences as a hypermobile dancer with post-concussion syndrome and chronic pain, Stephanie brings first-hand knowledge on how to work with your body holistically to live a healthy, active life. Her sessions combine manual therapy, mindfulness, and corrective movement strategies to facilitate her client’s performance potential.

Stephanie commonly attends international conferences, continuing education courses and workshops to bring awareness to the unique demands of the performing arts industry and to provide the most up to date information and skills for her clients. As an education advocate, she presents lectures for educational institutions, teachers, students and the medical community – she has hosted workshops internationally focusing on technique and safe practice for performing artists.

Stephanie is currently a member of PainBC’s Adaptive Mentorship Network, the Ehlers-Danlos Society’s ECHO program for Allied Health professionals and can be found dancing, climbing, flying, and paddling in her spare time.
